Simon Morgan will lead this brand new course to update you on the major changes to the Traffic Signs Manual (Chapters 1, 3, 4, 5 and 7) as a result of their recent revision. These chapters cover:
1. General introduction, legal, practical and aesthetic issues, minimising clutter.
3. Regulatory signs and markings
4. Warning signs
5. Other road markings
7. Sign face design for directional and other bespoke signs.
The course will provide a detailed analysis of what the new guidelines and guidance mean for highway authorities and how they differ from the previous versions:
-
Summary of each chapter and its most frequently referenced parts
-
The main changes from the previous versions
-
What authorities might do differently as a result.
-
Interpreting the new wording on traffic authority decision making
-
The enforcement consequences of the new Traffic Signs Manual.
Simon was closely involved in the production of these new chapters. He co-ordinated the response from the IHE Traffic Signs Panel to the official consultations and the interim ‘peer review’ drafts, and he personally wrote significant parts of chapters 3 and 7. He is thus the person outside DfT best placed to explain both the thinking behind the revisions and to highlight the actual changes and new guidance.
Cost £350 per delegate, reduced to £300 for those with current software support. (+VAT)
Further dates and venues will be offered later. This course is also available to be run at your premises.
The new chapters mentioned above are all now available to download from the DfT website.
This is a repeat of the course run in London on 30 April and 8 May.
