SignPlot 2.8 now available

The UK’s leading systems for designing traffic signs and their supports have both been enhanced. SignPlot now has an additional ‘wizard’ for creating complete assemblies of warning and regulatory signs

with plates and backing board if needed. SignLoad incorporates the recent set of assumptions issued by the trade body ARTSM for use when no post or location information is available.

Quick design of signs with plates and backing boards

SignPlot version 2.8 contains a wealth of new features and provides all the new signs authorised recently by DfT and those in the new working drawings from the Welsh Government showing bilingual versions of the signs in the 2011 Amendment Regulations.

The new facility to generate arrangements of warning or regulatory signs, with any plates and backing boards, will save a great deal of time and ensure that these signs are always correctly laid out.

Even more types of output and more support for digital printing

For sign manufacturers and others, many enhancements have been made to the output options. These include more than one version of the same sign (perhaps a colour image, and an outline one showing the tiles), and special formats for digital printing of finished signs.

SignLoad also enhanced

SignLoad, which is built into SignPlot but also available separately, minimises post and foundation sizes by applying accurately the latest (2011) editions of the wind loading Eurocode. It incorporates passively safe products and advises on their correct use and spacing. Aluminium supports from Sapa Pole Products have been added for this version.

Extra features for Wales

SignPlot 2.8 creates bilingual versions of all the permitted variants of new signs such as Restricted Parking Zone, Permit Parking Area and Electric vehicle charging, introduced earlier this year. These and all parking signs are made by entering their details in English – SignPlot translates into Welsh and applies the special layout rules of the Welsh Government working drawings, which are significantly different from those issued by DfT for use elsewhere in UK. This ensures that the approved translation is always used and allows bilingual signs to be designed by those not fluent in Welsh and without needing constant reference to the working drawings.

For Wales, the new warning sign wizard automatically translates and places the half-size distance units used on some plates.
