A major update to HighwayMap, Buchanan Computing’s innovative GIS application for managing the highway adoption process, is now available. Amongst the many new features are the ability to incorporate the new AddressBase gazetteers and enhanced printing tools.

About HighwayMap

HighwayMap is a map-based system that manages all stages of the complicated process for highway adoptions (Section 38) and other legal procedures, such as stopping up orders. It can be used to maintain a comprehensive record of the status and extent of all highways and their boundaries where known. Contact information for developers, solicitors and other relevant parties is stored within the system, which can generate standard letters for each stage of the process. Copies of incoming and outgoing letters are attached to the relevant record and reminders can be set to ensure that each stage of the process is completed on time.

The system provides an ideal way of keeping a dynamic and up-to-date visual record of highway status, along with all the tools needed to manage efficiently the relevant legal processes.
