The UK’s best selling road collision analysis system has recently undergone a series of major developments. Improvements to AccsMap 4.1 affect all aspects of the application, from the user interface and search tools to the analytical and reporting functions. AccsMap now provides safety camera justification using the new points-based criteria that safety camera partnerships will use from April 2007.

New Features include a host of user definable options, including colour coding, configurable searching and ‘Favourite Views’, allowing ready access to a location of interest. Labelling options now allow up to ten STATS 19 fields to be used for annotating collisions and other data. The most significant enhancement, however, is the creation of Conflict Diagrams. A semi-automated approach allows the rapid production of geographically orientated symbols illustrating the collision and the Stick Diagram fields are populated with the relevant data.

Following recent changes to the DfT criteria for the justification of safety camera sites, AccsMap now includes the new points based system. For each site, values are calculated for Built Up and Non Built Up checks. The modifications to AccsMap allow for the new flexible criteria and include justification of Scottish Camera Sites.
